Speaker Mike Johnson Sticks to Plan for Foreign Aid Bills

Washington

On Wednesday, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La) reaffirmed his commitment to introducing a series of foreign aid bills to the House floor, including funding for Ukraine.

The House voted 316-94 to prepare for votes on four separate bills that would provide $95 billion in foreign aid to Ukraine, Israel, Taiwan, and other countries.

Johnson's announcement came after months of negotiations and delays in passing the national security spending package. He stated that he believes it is "the right side of history" to provide aid to Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression.

However, Johnson's decision has drawn criticism from some Republicans who believe that the United States should not be providing financial assistance to foreign countries.

Despite the opposition, Johnson has remained steadfast in his commitment to advancing the foreign aid bills. He believes that it is essential to support Ukraine and other allies in their efforts to promote democracy and stability around the world.
