Celtics Dominate Game 1, Porzingis Returns for Mavericks
The Boston Celtics have taken an early lead in the NBA Finals, defeating the Dallas Mavericks 107-89 in Game 1 on Thursday night. The Celtics were led by Jayson Tatum, who finished with 25 points, seven rebounds, and five assists. Jaylen Brown added 22 points, while Al Horford chipped in with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Porzingis Returns for Mavericks, Scores 20 Points
Despite the loss, the Mavericks received a boost with the return of Kristaps Porzingis, who had been sidelined with a calf injury. Porzingis finished with 20 points on 8-of-16 shooting, including 18 in the first half. His presence gave the Mavericks a much-needed offensive boost, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Celtics' balanced attack.
The Celtics led by as many as 22 points in the first half and never looked back. They shot 47.1% from the field and held the Mavericks to just 39.7% shooting. The Celtics also won the rebounding battle by a 48-33 margin.
