Lithuania Outplays Team USA in Manila

Physicality and Rebounding Propel Lithuania to Victory

The Lithuanian national basketball team pulled off a stunning upset on Saturday, defeating the United States 110-104 in an exhibition game in Manila, Philippines. The game was a preview of the upcoming FIBA Basketball World Cup, which begins next week in Spain.

Lithuania opened up a 52-31 lead late in the first half and held on for the win despite a late rally by the United States. Jonas Valancinuas led the way for Lithuania with 24 points and 13 rebounds, while Domantas Sabonis added 17 points and 11 rebounds. For the United States, James Harden led the way with 27 points, followed by Anthony Davis with 20 points and 10 rebounds.

The win was a major upset, as the United States is the reigning world champion and is heavily favored to win the gold medal in Spain. Lithuania, on the other hand, is ranked 11th in the world and is not considered a contender for the medal.

However, Lithuania's physicality and rebounding were too much for the United States to handle. Lithuania outrebounded the United States 26-15 and had a 10-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. The United States also struggled to shoot the ball, making just 38.5% of their shots from the field.

The win was a major statement for Lithuania and could give them confidence heading into the World Cup. The United States, on the other hand, will need to make some adjustments if they want to win the gold medal.
